GROW WITH THE SHOW HELPING BUSINESSES FOR SECOND YEAR

13 April 2015, Press Releases

NEW BUSINESSES are being invited to win free trade space at this year's Lincolnshire Show with the return of its popular Grow with the Show competition.

Grow with the Show, sponsored by the University of Lincoln, is open to 18-30-year-olds, living and working in Lincolnshire who have set up their own business in the last 18 months or are looking to turn their talent into a viable business in the near future.

If you are a baker, potter, landscape gardener, or artist, the Show wants to hear from you.

The competition follows the success of last year - which saw Rebekah Lockley crowned winner with her business Ruby Ceramics. Rebekah creates beautiful handmade ceramics decorated with traditional techniques.

Rebekah said

: "Grow with the Show was an amazing opportunity for me. Getting the opportunity to show my work to the thousands of people who attend the show every year was priceless. It meant that I was picked up by a gallery who wanted to sell my art which then led to more opportunities – it really opened a door for me.
"For the past year I have had my own shop in Lincoln but now I am moving to Rome after selling some of my work out there and it being really well received.
"I can't recommend highly enough what a great opportunity this is for a new business. I found it was great exposure and also brilliant for my confidence in my work."

The Lincolnshire Show, which is taking place at Lincolnshire Showground on 24 and 25 June, attracts 60,000 people over two days, the perfect platform for growing businesses.

Jayne Southall, CEO of the Lincolnshire Showground and Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, said: "We want to hear from all fledgling businesses looking to kick-start their business.

"Rebekah is the perfect example of what is on offer. The Show is an excellent spring board to showcase a new business giving unrivalled exposure to such volumes of people who attend over the two days and meet potential customers.
"We are proud to be working in partnership with the University of Lincoln, a great partner for the competition."

The winner will receive a trade space at the Show or an area to perform their talent and two 'highly commended' applicants will be invited to the Show to see what it has to offer local businesses.

Applicants will be judged by a panel of three judges. The winner and runners up will be announced on Monday 27th April.

Application forms can be downloaded from the show's website www.lincolnshireshow.co.uk and completed forms can be returned to the Lincolnshire Showground, Grange De Lings, Lincoln, LN2 2NA.
