To mark the 100 year anniversary of World War One, the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society has donated 100 Lincolnshire Show tickets to a national charity supporting brave servicemen and women in the HM Armed Forces.
The charity, Tickets for Troops, was set up in 2009 and offers servicemen and women free tickets to a variety of sporting, musical and cultural events.
100 Troops and their families will be given the chance to attend the annual Lincolnshire Show (18 – 19 June), one of the largest and most prestigious county shows in the UK which is organised by The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society.
Veronica Bamford, Director of Operations at Tickets for Troops said:
"We offer serving personnel and those medically discharged from the armed forces the well-deserved opportunity to enjoy an event of their choice with their friends and families.
"The generous donation of 100 tickets to this year's Lincolnshire Show is very well received as it's a fantastic day out for the whole family and I know troops that attend will have a very enjoyable time.
"Tickets for Troops has allocated over 475,000 tickets to troops across the UK and has over 135,000 members registered. We recognise that brave servicemen and women who spend months away from their families need to be available to serve at short notice and put their lives on the line for our country."
Celebrating its 130th year, this year's Lincolnshire Show is set to be the biggest and best yet with a variety of entertainment such as food stalls, live cookery demonstrations, sporting events, animal displays, craft tents, live music and plenty of children's activities.
Jayne Southall, CEO of the Lincolnshire Showground and Lincolnshire Agricultural Society said:
"It's a privilege to receive tickets from such a worthy charity. The Lincolnshire Show offers a wide range of entertainment and attractions and welcomes crowds from the Midlands and the rest of the country. We're delighted to offer the troops the chance to enjoy it with their loved ones."
The headline attraction of this year's show will be the RAF Falcons parachute display team, who will perform an awe-inspiring military parachute freefall display – including advanced manoeuvres and falling speeds of up to 120mph.
Another highlight includes the Food Court, filled with exuberant chefs celebrating the best of Lincolnshire produce. There will be cooking demonstrations from a range of local producers, including multi award winner Redhill Pork.
The 130th Lincolnshire Show will take place on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 June and is open from 8am to 6pm.
