LAS Royal Rhyme Competition

LAS Royal Rhyme Competition

The competition has now closed. Thank you for all of the applicants!

Win £400 book vouchers for your school!

The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society are inviting all school-aged children to enter a poetry competition to celebrate the 70 glorious years of our Queen’s reign. The power of poetry to ignite the imagination and bring words to life is the perfect platform for such a prestigious achievement.

The competition is open to all primary and secondary aged children in Greater Lincolnshire, and we would like to hear your schools’ rhymes, poems or sonnets, celebrating this magnificent achievement.

Can your students capture a moment in time of Her Majesty’s reign?

Could they bring 70 years of history together in words?

You can include the competition in your lesson planning, or even homework for the children!

Entries will be judged in four key stage categories; KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4.

Three category winners will receive a trophy and £100 (£25 for the winning entrant and £75 for the school) in National Book tokens. The overall winner will receive £100 in National Book tokens and £400 National Book Tokens for the school.

The verse can take any form, it does not have to rhyme and can be up to one side of A4 in length. Please use the official bordered paper provided here. The overall winning poem from all categories will be judged by the renowned Lincolnshire-based Hollywood actor Colin McFarlane.

The winning author will receive a free family ticket to the Lincolnshire Show and the school will receive a discounted ticket price.

If you would like to enter the competition, complete the form and send in your poem on the bordered paper, titled ‘A Royal Rhyme’ to: education@lincolnshireshowground.co.uk by Wednesday 11th May 2022
